On 18 June 2019 several high school students from Colegio Marista "Nuestra Señora de la Fuencisla" in Segovia launched a helium balloon toward the stratosphere with a box full of devices and cameras to record pressure, altitude, temperature and position data.
This project was sponsored by Peñalara among others, who went to the launch and closely followed its path. Thanks to the built-in GPS, they were able to follow the balloon trip and finally pick it up in Sorian-Riojan lands, just four hours away from Segovia.
